DESCRIPTION
Thailand, one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-aging societies, stands at a critical juncture in developing the Silver Economy. With nearly 20% of the population aged 60 or older and projections indicating that one in three Thais will be seniors by 2050 (NESDC, 2022), the country faces significant challenges related to labor shortages, healthcare demand, and economic inequality among older adults. Therefore, the objectives of this project are 1) to systematically identify key stakeholders in Thailand’s silver economy, including government agencies, private sector actors, non-governmental organizations, and elderly populations, while aligning with relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the Long-term Population Development Plan (2022 – 2037) framework and 2) to assess the impacts of demographic transitions on the silver economy in Thailand, focusing on aging trends, labor force changes, and shifts in consumer behavior.
